Quietly, Wyzela sought revenge against her brother after he succeeded her in Ethiopia’s throne, becoming ruler over the nation. Through an evil source and the help of a witch doctor named Guzoo, Wyzela crafted a hateful plot to abduct her niece and raise her as her own daughter.

In the country of Ethiopia, in the Horn of Africa, the nation experienced a harmonious era. All good things were in abundance. After many victories in battle, there was peace and prosperity for its brave and loyal citizens. In spite of that, evil lurked within the Ethiopian dynasty. One terrible act of vengeance loomed over the great Emperor and his family. The extraordinary events that followed led to the miraculous tale of “The Three-Penny Princess”, and a symbol that could bring you good fortune even today. The story begins before the Princess’s birth.

When I was about nine years old, I discovered animations and fairytales. I grew up with my grandparents, in a small village called Merry Hill, in Jamaica, West Indies. I saw my first animated story after migrating to Toronto, Canada, to live with my parents. Since then, fairytales have been one of my favorite genres of books and movies, etc. On the top of that list, is Cinderella, a young girl under challenging circumstances, seeking her happy ending. Her story reminded me of myself and my experience. It breathes hope and faith. I started writing this book about 20 years ago on a New York City subway train. I dream that Annanaia will inspire people around the world, especially young people like Cinderella inspired me. Annanaia is our African Princess and my ode to African culture.
